Invest in your relationship with yourself

Life is challenging. We all need need help to cope with the ebb and flow of life, and despite our strengths, individual therapy can help with some of life’s bigger struggles. We all have a tendency to put others first, but in doing so, we can sometimes neglect our relationship with ourselves. Individual therapy sessions involve a journey we take together to identify underlying problems, after which certain thoughts and behaviors can be adjusted to fully realize your goals and live a happier life. Some common issues addressed in individual therapy include but are not limited to life changes and challenges, worries and anxieties, feelings of dejection, grief, career challenges, and burn-out.

Improve your relationship with others

During conflict, each person’s words and behaviors are often driven either by fear, shame, and anger. We protest because we are afraid we won’t be heard, defend ourself in order to protect our loved one’s view of us (or our view of ourself), show anger at the expense of vulnerability because we are afraid to get hurt, criticize our loved one to get them to change, and shut down because we are afraid that bad things will happen if we stay engaged. Couples and families who are able to shift out of anger and fear during triggered moments and instead communicate from empathy, understanding, and vulnerability are more successful at reaching each other and working through problems.

I offer couples and family therapy sessions that take a closer look at the interactions between spouses, the parent-child dynamic, or within the entire family system. I provide premarital counseling, psychotherapy for couples, parents who are looking for alternatives to managing parenting issues, and families who want to navigate through the different conflicts within the whole unit.

A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.

Therapy is work, and it’s difficult work. You are challenging core beliefs in therapy. You are digging into yourself, seeing brand new things, seeing familiar old things in new ways. You have to digest. Process. It takes energy. It takes courage and strength.

And if it sometimes leaves you feeling tired and tender, then rest in knowing you are doing the hard work…of growing.
